The SPOT (Supporting Positive Opportunities with Teens) is a youth center that provides free services to individuals between the ages of 13 and 24 years old. Examples of services include:
- a "drop in" program where youth can hang out in a safe environment,
- basic medical services, sexual and reproductive health services,
- supportive counseling,
- case management, &
- work development services
The SPOT follows a positive youth development model by focusing on the strengths of each individual, providing support, and seeking to empower individuals to improve their lives and contribute to society. The SPOT serves a diverse community and strives to make the center a welcoming and safe space for all.
The SPOT and Project ARK fall under the auspices of the Washington University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. The SPOT and Project ARK function as an integrated program by sharing staff, streamlining administrative infrastructure, and collaborating in services provision.
