Guardian Project Guardians
in HIV prevention, We've got your back

Anyone who attends a Guardian Mpowerment Social Discussion Group is automatically a Guardian Member. This is an open discussion group for gay/bi men ages 18-29 with no membership fees. Some Guardian Members have taken on a formal leadership role with the organization, these are the Captain and Master Guardians.

Captain and Master Guardians serve as HIV educators to deliver prevention messages and recruit young gay/bi men to become Guardian members. Captain Guardians are young gay/bi men ages 18-29 and Master Guardians are gay/bi men ages 30+, who can commit to promoting the Guardian Principles and uphold the Captain and Master Guarians' Code of Conduct.

All Captain and Master Guardians are invited to participate in Guardian social groups. Guardian Social Groups are designed to bring out the best in our community. They provide Guardian Members with quality social events, and the information necessary to keep our minds and bodies healthy, and our sex lives SAFE and ALIVE. At the weekly social meetings we plan upcoming events, projects and outreach activities.

What is the difference between Captain and Master Guardians?
Captain Guardians are young gay/bi men ages 18-29 who have taken on a leadership role within Guardian. The Master Guardians are 30 to 40-something year old gay men who represent other parts of the gay community, which are sometimes difficult to gain assess to. Master Guardians target older gay men with prevention messages and role modeling.

As the Guardian Mpowerment Social Discussion group is a peer led group for 18-29 year olds, Master Guardians are welcome to an occassional Guardian Mpowerment meeting but moreso are expected to be in the community targeting older gay men, particularly attending FUSE, our older gay/bi brother organization at St. Louis Effort for AIDS.
