Guardian Project Social/Discussion Group
in HIV prevention, We've got your back

Guardian Curriculum
The Guardian Project is based on the principles of the Mpowerment Program, a Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Intervention (DEBI) supported by the Centers for Disease Control. Mpowerment is recognized as an empirically based program that is proven to help reduce risk behavior among Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM). The Guardian Curriculum is designed with these principles in mind, as well as to meet the requirements of our local RPG (HIV/STD Regional Planning Group). At each Guardian Mpowerment Social Discussion Group, we discuss a co-factor that contributes to risk behavior. The Guardian Curriculum expands on the Mpowerment Mgroup design, using peer-led 2-3 hour meetings to discuss these factors and utilizes skills-building experiential exercises, such as condom negotiation role-plays, condom demonstration teach-backs, etc.

Please feel free to use this curriculum, and adapt them to your needs, but credit must be given to Project ARK and the Guardian Project for the original development.
