Male
latex condoms reduce your risk of getting an STD. Be sure
to use them correctly, use them every time you have sex, and
use them during all types of sex, including anal, oral, and
vaginal sex. Remember though that condoms aren't 100% foolproof.
The only sure way to prevent STDs is by not having sex. If
you have sex, you can lower your risk by only having sex with
someone who isn't having sex with anyone else and who doesn't
have an STD.
How
to Use a Male Condom
1
- Buy/Obtain Latex or Polyurethane Condoms. Use a new condom
every time you have sex.
2 - Store properly (not in extreme temperatures, not in places
where easily and continually bent. You should store your condoms
in a cool, dry place. Do
not store in your car.)
3 - Check Packaging – Check the expiration date and check
for any holes or other damage to the condom package.
4 - Open Condom Package – Push the condom to one side before
tearing open. Be careful of fingernails and avoid using teeth.
5 - Squeeze tip of condom and place on the head of an erect
penis.
6- Pinch the tip of the condom so there is no air in the end
and unroll all the way to the base of the penis. Note:
If condom does not roll it has probably been put on inside
out. Throw it away and get a new one.
7- Enjoy Safer Sex. Use water-based lubricants so the condom
won't break. Never use oil-based lubricants like Vaseline,
massage oils, or lotion. These can make the condom break.
8- After ejaculation, while penis is still erect, hold the
base of the condom and withdraw from partner.
9- Remove condom from penis.
10- Wrap condom in tissue and throw away. (Don’t flush condom
down toilet.)
