Monday through Friday, 10:00am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, however we are currently only providing testing on an appointment basis.
To obtain an appointment, call Mon, Thurs or Fri right at 9am and leave a message. You will receive a return call to determine if we can offer a same day appointment.
If you can’t make it during those hours, visit the Get Tested page for details on how to request an in-home HIV test be mailed to you to self-administer.
We test for HIV and syphilis. To find a location for other STI tests, call 314-535-7275 or check out http://hivtest.cdc.gov/stdtesting.aspx.
About 30 minutes total: a brief 10-15 minute counseling session and 20 minutes to process the Rapid HIV Test.
Results for syphilis are processed by the State of Missouri Public Laboratory and can take up to 2 weeks for results to return.
We use rapid and conventional tests. Rapid tests – 20 minute results (blood sample). Conventional tests – up to 2 weeks for results (blood sample).
An HIV antibody test looks for these antibodies in blood. Most people develop detectable HIV antibodies within 6 to 12 weeks (3 months) of infection. In rare cases, it can take up to 6 months.
We are located at 4169 Laclede Ave. St. Louis, MO 63108.
This is in the Central West End, between Boyle and Sarah.
There is no fee for testing.
Some people have flu-like symptoms within 2 to 4 weeks after acquiring HIV (acute HIV infection). These symptoms may last for days or several weeks. But some people may not feel sick during acute infection.
For most people, severe symptoms after acquiring HIV may take years to develop. These are sometimes called opportunistic infections. For this reason, we recommend annual testing to decrease the likelihood of developing severe symptoms. We can typically detect HIV within the first 3 months with an antibody test.
